Health Insurance Carriers

The Student Health Center, excluding pharmacy, will only submit claims to the following health insurance carriers:

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield – All states
  • VIVA
  • Cigna
  • United Health Care
  • Aetna
  • Tricare
  • Humana
  • Health Spring
  • PSI Student Insurance
  • Beech Street – TPA network
  • PHCS – TPA network

All students should present their health insurance card to the receptionist in order to determine if we participate with your carrier and if we will be able to submit claims directly to your carrier.

If your carrier is not listed above, all charges will be billed to your student account and will be your responsibility. We will be glad to provide you with a detailed listing of your fees, so you may file a claim with your carrier personally.

Separate Charges

There are separate charges for services with SHC providers, including but not limited to X-rays, laboratory fees, office visits, orthopedic appliances and prescriptions filled at our pharmacy.

SHC, excluding pharmacy, accepts most major health insurance plans and will bill your health insurance carrier for covered charges. Please check with your carrier to determine if SHC is a participating provider with your health insurance plan and any co-pays required will be billed to your student account.

In some instances you might receive a bill from other facilities and providers, for services such as laboratory tests and/or x-ray interpretations that are ordered by our physicians but are processed elsewhere. You will be billed directly for these services and the balance will be your responsibility. These charges will not be billed to your bursar account at Student Receivables.
